Strength & Endurance

Find your fitness style

Pilates builds from the inside out. You’ll develop core strength that supports everything you do, from daily life to sport. The controlled movements mean real results without the wear and tear.

Barre

Why Barre?

We have adapted traditional Barre workouts to design our very own Pilates Plus concept. The Physio-Led Barre classes combine principles from my Pilates classes with ballet and yoga foundations to bring you a class which will make you feel like you have really worked out! If you want to add some cardio to your Pilates routine, then Barre is for you!

Outdoor Fitness Pilates

Why Outdoor Fitness Pilates?

Fitness Pilates is more of a functional approach to Pilates. We will still use the main key principles of Pilates but a lot more of the work may be in standing using functional movement patterns. We will work on increasing your overall body strength, conditioning and core using the concepts from Pilates, Barre, Yoga and Interval training programmes and cardio work. We plan to do this in all weathers, and reap the benefits that outdoor exercise brings!! It will be an invigorating start to your day!

Workshops

Why Workshops?

Our Saturday morning workshops run every few months. Each workshop is physio-led – bespoke, with a unique theme and often an educational element. Our workshops are open to everyone. If you are a new client and would like to try something new, then you are very welcome! If you have been attending our classes a while, then a workshop may just help you overcome a hurdle that has been holding you back in class.

Sculpt Pilates

I have been attending Tess’ Pilates classes for 11 years and began Barre, Yoga and Yogalates as she introduced them into her schedule. Classes are challenging, fun, varied and even after 11 years, I am still motivated, eager and excited for each and every class, I hate if I have to miss one. Tess is such a warm, knowledgeable, experienced and supportive teacher who creates a safe environment in class from which friendships have evolved.

Liz – Variety of classes

I have been attending the outdoor classes for a few years now and absolutely love it, it is a positive part of my week and I look forward to going, no matter the weather, Tess brings her energetic and motivational self each week putting us through our paces all with a friendly smile. Tess encourages each and every one of us which makes the class fun. If you have a niggle or an injury Tess will make sure you are comfortable and offer alternative exercises.

I find Tess’ classes energetic, varied and always uplifting. Her expertise as a Pilates/barre/yoga teacher allows us to develop strength, flexibility and balance, while her physio knowledge is a particular benefit in giving advice and making individual adjustments while we work on different muscle groups. Tess is always welcoming, cheerful and encouraging. Having done her various classes for a few years now, they have become an important part of my week. Thank you, Tess 😊

Jean – Barre class

Tess, Reformer & Pilates have fixed me. I was suffering with chronic, debilitating sciatica pain & on a cocktail of pain medication. With Tess’s expert help I am now pain free, moving freely and feeling strong. The journey was tough, but Tess was always supportive, encouraging and I felt in a safe pair of hands. I look forward to every session and finish feeling healthy, strong and happy.

Emma 😊 Physio/Pilates 1:1 Client

Tess is a fantastic Pilates instructor and physiotherapist. I have regularly attended her classes for years, including Pilates, Yogalates and postnatal Pilates/barre. Tess’s classes are fun, with lots of variety and a good amount of challenge. Tess gives great feedback and adjustments, even during online classes. The support and community through her postnatal classes were incredible – they were one of the highlights of our week during maternity leave. I also went to Tess after injuring my wrist and she helped me recover so that I could return to my usual exercise routine.

Anna – Antenatal/Postnatal Pilates/1:1

“Tess is brilliant. Every Pilates barre session has new movements and her classes constantly challenge our muscles, balance, ankle strength and general fitness. Love them!”

Barre

I have been going to Pilates Plus sessions for nearly 10 years, initially in-person classes after work in Edinburgh and subsequently via Zoom after the pandemic started. As a keen cyclist, I want to complement my aerobic fitness by improving and maintaining my core as well as my strength since cycling is not weight bearing. Not only has Tess achieved that but I have started running again after a 10-year gap, finishing my first of several half-marathons, including The Great North Run, in c2hours, which I largely attribute to her sessions. Tess talks us through different routines each week, varying the focus from one area to another. She is full of energy, fun and offers variation of exercises to suit different levels. Tess is a great communicator, very attentive and an outstanding teacher. I wholeheartedly recommend her classes to anyone looking to build strength, improve mobility and feel better physically and mentally.

Leslie – Online Pilates

“Tess is super supportive, her classes are always challenging but she makes them fun too. She is professional whilst also being extremely approachable.”

All level Pilates

“I have been going to Tessa’s antenatal pilates classes for a few weeks now and I find them extremely helpful. Tessa is clearly very knowledgable, professional and an expert in her field, I find this very reassuring. This is our first baby and I would highly recommend Tessa to anyone pregnant and looking to learn about how Pilates can support and help prepare for birth and pregnancy. I look forward to the class every week!”
